–          Comprehensive operational and supervisory experience and network capabilities in economic and public affairs through a career in diplomacy, politics and private business in Europe and at the international level, continously built up since more than 25 years; particular expertise in the field of European and transatlantic affairs, with regard to Russia, the Middle East, Asia and to other emerging markets.

–          Born July 10th, 1948 Saarbrücken, Germany; Studies of Lw, Economics and Politice University of Saarbrücken. Graduate of the French National School of Administration (ENA) in Paris (1974 – 75).

–          German diplomat posted to Algiers and Brussels (1981 – 85 Permanent Representation to the European Communities), shorter stays in Madrid and Cairo.

–          Private office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hans-Dietrich Genscher (1985-87).

–          Federal Chancellor’s Office – first European, then European Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl (1987 – 98)

–          Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany on the North Atlantic Council Brussels (1998 – 99)

–          Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra (1999 – 2002).
